Frequently Asked Questions

What is notch therapy?
Notch therapy works by filtering out your specific tinnitus frequency from the sounds you listen to. Over time, your brain may reduce its sensitivity to that frequency, potentially reducing the perceived loudness of your tinnitus.
How do I find my tinnitus frequency?
Use the frequency matching tool on the Therapy tab. Adjust the slider while listening through headphones until the tone closely matches the sound of your tinnitus. This is typically between 2000–8000 Hz for most people.
How long should I use notch therapy daily?
Research suggests 1–2 hours of daily listening for at least 6 months for best results. Consistency is more important than duration — regular short sessions are better than occasional long ones.
Can I use my own music?
Yes! Premium users can select songs from their Apple Music library or import audio files. The notch filter is applied in real-time to your chosen frequency.
What's the difference between white, pink, and brown noise?
White noise has equal energy at all frequencies (like static). Pink noise has more energy at lower frequencies (like rain). Brown noise emphasizes even lower frequencies (like a waterfall). Try each to find what's most comfortable for you.
How do I restore my Premium purchase?
Open the app, tap any Premium feature to open the upgrade screen, then tap "Restore Purchase" at the bottom. Your purchase will be restored through your Apple ID.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → TinniCare → Cancel Subscription.
Is TinniCare a medical device?
No. TinniCare is a wellness application developed by an ENT resident. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Always consult your ENT doctor about your tinnitus.
